Rössing Uranium is set to host the Chamber of Mines Inter-Mine sports games, in Swakopmund starting 24 November 2023.

Rössing Uranium proudly announces its preparedness to welcome and host the highly anticipated Chamber of Mines Inter-Mine Sports Games, slated to commence on November 24th and continue through November 25th, 2023, at the Vineta Central Sports fields, in Swakopmund.

Rössing Uranium’s Corporate Communication Manager, Daylight Ekandjo said, with an expected attendance of over 1000 participants from mining operations across the region, the Inter-Mine Sports Games represent a significant gathering aimed at fostering camaraderie, healthy competition, and the celebration of unity within the mining community.

"Rössing Uranium, known for its commitment to promoting a culture of wellness and teamwork, eagerly anticipates this momentous occasion. Our dedicated team have been meticulously prepared to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for all attendees, participants, and spectators," she said.

The two-day event will feature a diverse array of sporting competitions, namely:

  • * Soccer, for active and Veterans
  • * Volleyball
  • * Netball
  • * Darts Chess
  • * Pool
  • * Golf and;
  • * Fun relay

The Inter-Mine Sports Games are not solely about competition; they serve as a platform for networking, knowledge exchange, and strengthening the bonds between mining industry professionals beyond the workplace.

"We are honoured to host the Chamber of Mines Inter-Mine Sports Games and eagerly await the spirited competition and camaraderie that this event promises," Ekandjo expressed. The event promises to be an exciting showcase of sportsmanship and solidarity among mining entities, highlighting the importance of a balanced lifestyle and teamwork in the industry.

The Inter-mines Sports games under the Chamber of Mines is an annual event, but in 2020 and 2021, the event could not take place due to the Covid 19 pandemic which came with lockdown and legislative directives, which temporarily paused sports activities in the country. Last year, this event was re-introduced by Swakop Uranium, which has again become a collective industry effort that is being coordinated through the Chamber of Mines. Every year, a different mining operation have the privilege of hosting this renowned event.
