(15 January 2024)

Rössing Uranium handed over a donation of 400 school bags with stationaries to the Tsumkwe Senior Secondary School, as part of the Women in Media (WiM) Tsumkwe outreach initiative.

Speaking at the donation handover, Rössing Uranium Corporate Communication Manager Daylight Ekandjo said, investing in education is key at Rössing Uranium, through initiatives run by our Corporate Social Investment vehicle, the Rössing Foundation, which continues to make an impact in schools across the country in different forms. “We truly believe that education is the cornerstone of progress, and we recognise the role it plays in shaping the future.”

Ekandjo said, preparations for this donation dates back to last year when Rössing Uranium positively responded to the request by the Women in Media to support this initiative and Rössing Uranium committed N$ 250 000 towards this outreach drive.

She said, we acknowledge the challenges faced by learners, teachers, and the community of Tsumkwe. Yet, it is in the face of challenges that resilience is forged, and it is our hope that these school bags and stationaries will alleviate some of the burdens, enabling our future employees to focus on their studies and aspire to greater heights.

“This donation today is a small contribution towards a collective goal. It reflects our belief in the potential of the young minds of Tsumkwe and our commitment to fostering educational opportunities in the communities where we live, work and beyond,” she said.

She thanked the Women in Media for the partnership and collaboration, stating that, “It is through such partnerships that we can create a lasting impact, ensuring that every child receives the education they deserve.”

Women in Media founder Limba Mupetami thanked Rössing Uranium for joining hands with WiM and for the contribution.

The School Principal Christof Ngavetene also extended his gratitude to Rössing Uranium for the donation.
