Rössing Uranium donates vehicle to AIMS vocational training centre
(25 April 2022)

Rössing Uranium donated a vehicle that served the mine for years, to the AIMS Vocational Training centre in Arandis on Friday, 22 April 2022, which will serve as a skills training tool for the Automotive Mechanic trainees.

Daylight Ekandjo, the mine’s manager for Corporate Communication, said the donation forms part of our sustainable development and community relationships approach, which is to seek out win-win situations that can increase economic wealth and social well-being for Namibia, today and tomorrow.

“As a responsible corporate citizen, Rössing Uranium continues to honour its corporate-social responsibility to our communities.

“Various investments, such as the one we are witnessing today, are all seen as contributing positively to the needs of society by providing support to communities without creating dependency.

She added that at Rössing, we see continuous skills training and development as very important.

“The donation of this vehicle is in our mind not just an old vehicle being given to the centre, but in fact, it is seen as a long-term investment in the education of our youth.”
Before the donation, the centre had to send trainees out of town to do their practicals, a burden which we trust will now be eased.

Speaking on behalf of the centre, Trainer Automotive Mechanic Valde Haihambo said their trainings were always hampered due to limited resources.

“We believe in education being a collective responsibility, and we are grateful that Rössing Uranium is contributing to the social development of our society and investing in the young generation. This vehicle will help us a lot in delivering our training,” he said
