Rössing and union sign updated Recognition and Procedural Agreement
Owing to good governance and employee centric ethos, Rössing Uranium recently penned an
updated Recognition and Procedural Agreement (RPA) with the Mine Workers Union of Namibia
(MUN) – Rössing Branch Executive Committee.

This important milestone marks the first full review of the agreement since before Namibia’s
Independence. It reflects a shared commitment to modernising the mine’s employee relations
framework, ensuring alignment with current labour legislation, operational realities, and best
practices in industrial relations.
The process was guided by the principles outlined in the Labour Act, 2007 (Act No. 11 of 2007),
including: Sections 67–69, which govern the recognition of trade unions and procedural
agreements; AND Section 2(b), which promotes a sound labour relations system conducive to
economic growth, social justice, and industrial peace.
“The updated agreement provides clear procedural structures for workplace engagement,
consultation, and dispute resolution which is key to maintaining a collaborative, fair, and resilient
working environment,” said Liezl Davies, General Manager: Human Capital, Safety and
Sustainability.
The successful review and conclusion of this agreement followed months of structured internal
work and respectful negotiations, led by the company’s negotiation team in close partnership
with the MUN Rössing Branch Executive Committee.
“This outcome reflects Rössing Uranium’s commitment to good governance, lawful compliance,
social dialogue, and the continuous strengthening of its relationship with employees and
organised labour. We extend our appreciation to all involved for their professionalism,
openness, and commitment to sustaining a peaceful and productive work environment.
Together, we remain committed to building a workplace rooted in trust, transparency, and longterm value for all,” added Davies.
