Rössing Uranium donates N$ 135 000 to Swakop Striders
Rössing Uranium has donated N$135 000 to the Swakop Striders Running Club, reaffirming its commitment to the development of athletics and community sport in Namibia. The funds were generated from registration fees of the 2026 Rössing National Marathon. The contribution will assist the club in strengthening its programmes, supporting local athletes, and promoting long-distance running within the Erongo Region and beyond.
In addition, N$20 010 raised from entry fees for the 5km Fun Walk was donated to the Cancer Association of Namibia in support of the ongoing fight against cancer.
Rössing Uranium’s Corporate Communication Manager, Daylight Ekandjo, expressed appreciation for the longstanding partnership with Swakop Striders and their dedication to the success of the marathon held on Saturday, 07 March, in Swakopmund.
“Rössing does not seek commercial benefits through its social investment; instead, we recognise that sustainable development requires partnership. Businesses, government, and community organisations must work together to create meaningful and lasting impact. Through initiatives like this marathon, we aim to contribute to both sporting excellence and social upliftment,” she said.
Ekandjo added that the Rössing National Marathon is more than just a race; it is a platform that brings communities together, promotes healthy lifestyles, and supports the growth of athletics in Namibia.
“We are proud that the event continues to benefit local sporting organisations such as the Swakop Striders Running Club,” she said.
The recently held event attracted more than 4 000 runners from across the country and beyond the borders of Namibia.
