Superintendent Extraction – (Paterson D Band)
Department
The Processing Department is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective processing of U3O8 in accordance with operating plans based on sales and market commitments.
Position
A vacancy exists for a Superintendent Extraction in the Processing Department who will be responsible to lead and control all activities in the Extraction Section (Rodmills, Leaching, Rotoscoops, Thickeners, Ion Exchange, Solvent Extraction and Manganese plant) in the Processing Department in such a way that legal, safety, production and people relaed targets are met in an efficient manner.
Main responsibilities
- SAFETY, HEALTH & ENVIRONMENT: Manages people, equipment and other resources to eliminate the potential for incidents.
- OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE: Ensures short-term production, throughput, equipment availability and utilisation targets are met
- COST MANAGEMENT: Aggressively manages the direct cost of production and maintenance; ensures efficiency targets and budgets are improved continually, and achieved.
- CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Remedial measures taken to correct any production constraint by deploying appropriate resources
- PROCESS OPTIMISATION: Ensures process performance is continually optimised within given parameters/constraints
- PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT: Deploys personnel to ensure cross-skilling; addresses situational needs across entire plant; optimises productivity through coaching/ motivating and development
The incumbent should possess the following competencies

Minimum Requirements:
- B.Sc Engineering degree or equivalent (B.Eng, B.Tech, National Higher Diploma) in Metallurgical, Chemical or Processing Engineering.
- Code BE drivers license (Code 08)
- 3 Years relevant job specific experience of which two years must be at a Supervisory or Management level in a plant processing environment.
