Superintendent Procurement(x2) – (Paterson D)

Department

The Procurement Department is responsible for the inbound logistics of the business and must develop and maintain a World Class commercial environment that
will provide the systems and processes to support the provisioning of critical materials and services. The key functions of this department include strategic
sourcing, contract management, transactional purchasing, purchase-to-pay data management, inbound transportation, inventory control and, warehousing.

Position

Two vacancies exist for Procurement Superintendents in the Procurement Department. Reporting to the Manager: Procurement, the successful incumbents are to work together with the Manager: Procurement, to ensure Procurement processes are managed in a transparent way. This includes a strong improvement
focus.

Main responsibilities

  • Managing a team of procurement, warehousing and logistics staff
  • Operating the procurement function to meet site requirements
  • Management of key contracts
  • Ensuring operational commitments with controls are delivered as per contracts
  • Ensuring commitment systems operate in line with policies.

The incumbent should possess the following competencies

  • Leadership: Motivates and empowers others in order to reach organisational goals
  • Planning & Organising: Organises and schedules events, activities and resources. Sets up and monitors timescale plans
  • Quality Orientation: Shows awareness of goals and standards. Follows through to ensure that quality and productivity standards are met
  • Special Knowledge: Understands technical or professional aspects of work and continuously maintains technical knowledge
  • Problem Solving and Analysis: Analyses issues and breaks them down into their component parts. Makes systematic and rational judgements based on relevant information
  • Commercial Awareness: Understands and applies commercial and financial principles. Views issues in terms of costs, profits, markets and added value
  • Strategic Insight: Demonstrates a broad based view of issues, events and activities as well as a perception of their longer term impact or wider
    implications

 

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • A commercial degree (B.Comm, LLB, MBA) or similar
  • At least five (5) years post qualification experience in either a resources or heavy manufacturing environment of which three (3) must be Management level
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, analytical and organisational skills
  • Code BE (08) drivers licence.
