Ore Reserves Geologist (Paterson C Band)

Department

The Planning and Technical Services department is responsible for strategic short and long term planning as well as operational support in line with
the company’s mission of safe, long term growth and production focus.

Position

A vacancy exists for a Geologist in the Planning & Technical Services Department. Reporting to the Superintendent: Geology, the successful incumbent is to ensure the availability of accurate and timeous data, which is used to plan future mining activities

Main responsibilities

  • In –Pit Exploration programs (short term)
  • Evaluation of exploration data
  • Geological modelling
  • Reconciliations
  • Continuous improvement of processes
  • Report writing
  • Health, Safety & Environmental initiatives and responsibilities as part of our Safe Production drive.

The incumbent should possess the following competencies

  • Assessing & Evaluating: Testing a complete system for correct functioning. Evaluating alternatives prior to choice
  • Planning: Setting priorities for utilising resources and revising plans to account for changed circumstances
  • Integrating, Coding & Estimating: Estimating risk associated with a course of action
  • Problem Solving & Designing: Creating new systems or procedures and originating process or equipment design. Devising standardised tests for people or systems
  • Informing, Discussing & Interviewing: Providing information; discussing issues for clarification or explanation and answering critical questions about activities
  • Deciding: Making decision after thorough evaluation and making judgements on costs, damages, etc.
  • Analysing: Verifying the accuracy of calculations and work completion to a set standard

 

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.Sc Honours in Geology
  • A Post-graduate qualification in Geo-statistics
  • Three (3) years general post-graduate geological experience in a mining environment.
  • Resources evaluation experience will be an advantage.
