Geological Technician L2 (Geology)
Paterson C1

Department

The Planning and Technical Services Department is responsible for strategic short and long term planning as well as operational support in line with the company’s mission of safe, long term growth and production focus.

Position

A vacancy exists for a Geological Technician. Reporting to the Planning Officer: Geology, the incumbent is to render direct field and office support in all aspects of geology and ensure that high quality performance and accuracy in all work outputs is maintained

Main responsibilities

  • Supervisory - Managing and supervises tasks performed by assistants.
  • Face photography Sampling - all aspects of geological and geotechnical sampling.
  • Geotechnical Monitoring of Groundwater levels
  • Geotechnical core logging
  • Slope Monitoring
  • Data capturing and Weekly Reporting
  • SAP - consumables administration and planning.
  • Health, Safety & Environmental initiatives and responsibilities as part of our Safe Production drive.

The incumbent should possess the following competencies

  • Teamwork: Work and co-operates effectively with colleagues.
  • Coaching: Instructs and guides others on expectations. Leading and motivating individuals.
  • Safety Conscious: Uses machinery and equipment safely. Identify risk and potential dangers in the workplace.
  • Manually Capable: Must have the necessary hand and motor skills needed to perform essential work activities.

 

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 with (Mathematics and Science)
  • Two (2) years experience
  • Code BE drivers license (Code 08)
  • One (1) year exposure in Open-pit environment

Desirable requirements

  • Certificate in Geotechnical studies or demonstrable Geotechnical experience will be an advantage
  • Computer literacy: knowledge of SAP and Windows
  • Be physically fit.
