Graduate Geologist: Geology

Department
The Planning and Technical Services Department is responsible for strategic short- and long term planning as well as operational support in line with the company’s mission of safe, long term growth and production focus.
Position
Vacancies exist for Graduate Geologists in the Planning & Technical Services Department. Reporting to the Geologists, the successful incumbents will be assisting in the delivery of project work in a timely manner and supporting the drive for continuous improvement within the Geology Section.
Main responsibilities
- Attaining knowledge to become a competent geologist in the shortest possible time. This will include work such as undertaking field mapping, core logging,
sampling, mineralogical work and delivery of specified project work as trained and instructed.
The incumbent should possess the following competencies
- Planning & Organising: Sets clearly defined objectives; plans activities and projects well in advance and takes account of possible changing circumstances; identifies and organises resources needed to accomplish tasks; manages time effectively; monitors performance against deadlines and milestones
- Analysing: Analyses numerical data and all other sources of information, to break them into component parts, patterns and relationships; probes for further information or greater understanding of a problem
- Adapting & Responding to Change: Adapts to changing circumstances; tolerates ambiguity; accepts new ideas and change initiatives
- Applying Expertise & Technology: Applies specialist and detailed technical expertise; uses technology to achieve work objectives; develops job knowledge and expertise (theoretical and practical) through continual professional development
- Creating & Innovating: Produces new ideas, approaches, or insights; creates innovative products or designs; produces a range of solutions to problems
- Achieving Personal Work Goals & Objectives: Accepts and tackles demanding goals with enthusiasm; identifies own development needs and makes use of developmental or training opportunities

Minimum Requirements:
- BSc Honours in Geology
- BSc Geology will be considered
Desirable requirements
- A high level of interest in field work
- Strong inclination in Structural Geology will be an advantage
- Able to work under minimal supervision
- Computer literacy
- Potential to move upwards in the organisation
- Sound analytical and problem-solving skills along with a high degree of personal motivation.
