Superintendent Engineering Design
(Paterson D Band)

Department

The Projects Department is responsible for the management and execution of capital projects throughout the mine.

Position

Reporting to the Manager Projects, the successful incumbent will be responsible for the supervision and coordination of the Engineering Design Section.

Main responsibilities

• To comply with and maintains RUL Environmental, health and Safety Standards
• To coordinate integrated functional engineering design solutions
• To promote process improvement
• To manage staff

The incumbent should possess the following competencies

• Planning and Organising: Organising and scheduling events and activities and resources. Setting up and monitoring timescales and plans
• Quality Orientation: Showing awareness of goals and standards. Following through to ensure that quality and productivity standards are met
• Specialist Knowledge: Understanding technical or professional aspects of work and continually maintains technical knowledge
• Problem Solving and Analysis: Analysing issues and breaking them down into their component parts. Making systematic and rational judgments based on
  relevant information
• Oral Communication: Speaking clearly, fluently and in a compelling manner to both individuals and groups
• Creativity and Innovation: Creating new and imaginative approaches to work-related issues. Identifying fresh approaches and shows a willingness to question traditional assumptions
• Flexibility: Successfully adapting to changing demands and conditions
• Strategic: Demonstrating a broad-based view of issues, events and activities and a perception of their longer term impact or wider implications
• Personal Motivation: Committing self to work hard towards goals. Showing enthusiasm and career commitment

Minimum Requirements:

• B Sc Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering
• Registered with the Engineering Council of Namibia
• Valid Code 08 (BE) driver’s license
• At least six (6) years in Engineering with experience in multi-disciplinary design

Desirable requirements

• A Diploma in Project Management will be an advantage
